Hi Roger
I saw in your pictures gallery that you will build your canopy yourself ?
Tell us more with pictures if you can.
Great job too about your engine _________________ Un avion Piel, sinon rien .... |

I am taking pictures as I go but so far I haven't made a successful canopy. I will post a couple of picutres today of the heaters and the vacuum "shop vac" that I'm using. I hope to try to vacuum a canopy tomorrow "Saturday". I will keep you guys posted on what happens.

I tried last weekend to vacuum form a canopy. The box I built wasn't strong enough and I will build another one that is reinforced with metal.
Once I heated the box and acrylic sheet up to 325 degrees I turned the heaters off and the vacuum on. The canopy started to pull a few inches but the vacuum was pulling the sides of the box inward so hard the box collapsed and I lost vacuum pressure. I will try again after I build a new box in a week or two.
I will keep you guys posted as I make any progress.
PS: I got to try Hang glidding this past week while on vacation at Kitty Hawk NC.

Thank you roger for your tests very valuable for us (at least for me ), you make the science of building an airplane progress ...
What do you use for vacuum that can colapse the plywood box ? a primary vacuum pump ?
