Re: Building a Super Diamante without flaps

Hello Philippe, Thank you for your reply. Yes I agree with your comments. I will explain further some points. I want to use the Diamant as a 2 x seat touring machine with a good economical cruise, but able to operate from most airfields around New Zealand. The normal minimum runway length of license...

Building a Super Diamante without flaps

Hi Everyone, I have just read an article in the EAA magazine from many years ago, where an Emeraude builder discussed the option of building his Emeraude without flaps. Evidently the plans gave him a choice - flaps or not. As the Diamante is basically a scaled-up version of the Emeraude wing I can s...

Re: Super Diamant Fin/Rudder

Philippe -

FANTASTIC!!

You have solved my problem!

You even have a Seagull in the cockpit - what a marvellous drawing. I shall commence building at once.

Very many thanks for your input,

Barry

Re: Super Diamant Fin/Rudder

I have not received any comments about my last post and the drawing of the new rudder shape so I will take that as positive - with 100% agreement. I will now proceed to re-draw the rudder and fin construction drawings to achieve the new shape. Comments or criticisms are still very welcome from anyon...

Re: Super Diamant Fin/Rudder

Hi, One more drawing. This is a concept of the side view of a CP615 Diamante showing a scaled Spitfire fin/rudder outline. Comments or criticism are very welcome from anybody. http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii26/seagull617/image3.jpg Once again - please excuse my poor drawing... Cheers Barry

Re: Super Diamant Fin/Rudder

Hello again, I have attached a drawing of my idea to make the fin/rudder resemble the shape of a Spitfire. First off - I humbly apologise for the bad/rough drawing - I am no artist! This sketch of mine is intended for discussion only - not for engineering purposes. It is for ideas only. http://i260....

Re: Model variants Diamant?

Hi, I have just received my copy of Diamante plans from Sylvie Littner. They are all named CP 60. Does this mean I will have to buy another set for my CP615?, or will I have to modify my plans for the shorter wing span and everything else? I did not know the 615 has a shorter span. Are there any oth...

Re: Super Diamant Fin/Rudder

Hi Jean-Claude, My plans for the Super Diamante have finally arrived here in New Zealand from Canada. Many, many weeks on board a very slow boat! I also purchased the fin/rudder plans for the Emeraude CP328 from Sylvie, (both the straight and swept styles). Then I can calculate the % increase of the...

Re: Super Diamant Fin/Rudder

Jean-Claude,

Very many thanks for this.

My intention in building the CP615 is to have only two seats, and plenty of room for a tent and baggage for touring and camping, etc instead of carrying 3 people - and good fuel capacity for greater range.

Cheers

Barry

Re: Super Diamant Fin/Rudder

Thank you again Philippe - good advice! I think the safe way forward would be to send my final draft of the new fin/rudder to M. Piel for his comment/approval. Thank you for the information regarding the thicker rudder profile - remembered. I now have to wait for my plans to arrive so that I can dra...

Re: Super Diamant Fin/Rudder

Philippe - thank you for your reply, I have ordered a full set of Super Diamant plans from Sylvie Littner, plus the fuselage/turtledeck/fin/rudder drawings of the Super Emeraude (of both straight and swept design). This will enable me to scale-up the dimensions of a straight fin/rudder for the Super...

Super Diamant Fin/Rudder

Hi I am seriously looking at building a Super Diamante (tailwheel). But I prefer the 'straight' tail instead of the 'swept' tail assembly. In this website's photo gallery there is a picture of a Super Diamant with a straight tail, registered F-PJXP. Does this mean that there are plans or drawings av...

Re: Super Diamante

Hi Jean-Claude, Thank you for the reply. You are quite correct of course - a retractable is all of those things you mentioned plus just something else to go wrong (one day). I think the straight tail would look much better on the Super Diamante, and as you say ... if I keep to the same shape/design ...

Re: Super Diamante

I apologise for being limited to just the English language, but it is all I know. Does anybody have the answer(s) to my questions(s). Forgetting the question relating to retractable tailwheel Diamante, as this is not likely, but I am interested to know if the Super Diamante can be built with the upr...

Super Diamante

I have some questions please: 1 - Am I able to build the Super Diamante with a retractable tailwheel configuration? By this I mean that the main wheels would retract and the tailwheel would be fixed. 2 - I see that the Super Emeraude is offered with two choices of fin/rudder design, either straight ...

Re: Greetings - from New Zealand

Hi Philippe, Thank you again for your quick response. I have contacted the Webmaster at the DeltaEcho website so will let you know my success. Yes, I would prefer to puchase a complete aircraft to fly, but am not scared of building my own or even finishing off somebody else's project if they want to...

Re: Greetings - from New Zealand

Thank you for the quick response Philippe, You have given me a good perspective on the way to continue. My first option will be to try and locate a set of plans for the CAP 10. If this fails, then - no matter, my second choice will be for a Super Emeraude CP320 with the 150hp Lycoming. I still think...

Greetings - from New Zealand

Hi Everyone, Please excuse my lack of French - as English is the only language I know. I am interested in purchasing or building a Super Emeraude (I would really love a CAP 10 but am not a millionaire). The CP320 appeals to me as it is OK for the Lycoming 0-320 of 150 hp. Also it seems to be aerobat...
