I am considering ordering the plans for the 750 Beryl. There are very few of them here in the U.S. so I have never seen one in person. I used to own a Super Emeraude and it flew great so I'm interested in the Beryl. How thorough are the plans and how difficult is the spar to build? How airobatic is the Beryl? I spoke to one man here in the U.S. that owned a Beryl and he highly recomended building one, his had a steel tube fuse.
Are most of them in France wood or steel fuses?

Thanks,
Roger

Hi and welcome on our site Roger,
The Beryl is a great choice if you like flying the Emeraude. This version was designed for various uses, as traveling, training, sailplanes towing, flying in mountains, but his main use is for aerobatic flights training. According to most pilots, it can be compare with the CAP 10B, but in tandem configuration. The set of plans is always available in full version, you just need to order it by asking our member "GILOR" http://www.avions-piel.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=20
Approximatly five Beryl CP750 were built in France and fly now. Half with steel tube fuse and the other with the wood one. This choice depends on your ease with wood or steel tube technology. The owner and builder of the CP751 F-PHLM is now building another CP750 but with a wood fuse. I think he is the only person who can say you, with a concret sight, the which one you'd better build.
Don't hesitate if you want more informations.
Greg

Thanks that answers some of my questions. What is the difference between a 750 and 751?

Hello,
To my mind it is due to two main reasons: Firstly the Beryl is not as famous as the Emeraude, which stays the main built plane of all the CP's and even now. Moreover the fact that the Beryl is in tandem configuration seems to be a matter for most builders and pilots. We have already received phone call from builders who asked us if they could build a Super-Emeraude with the same structure as the CAP 10, and when we answer that the Beryl was designed for aerobatic flights like the CAP 10 but in tandem config, they usually respond that this configuration is less convivial. In other way, this plane needs more notoriety but his brother "Emeraude" makes him shade.

Does anyone know any information about this Beryl PP-ZRM. I would like to know more about the tilt open canopy he used. Where did he get it, does he like it....

Roger

"I would like to know more about the tilt open canopy he used."

I don't know anything about that particular plane from Brazil but his canopy closure is very similar to the one on the RV-4 designed by M. Rick VanGrunsven. Also, the Zodiac 601 from Zenith Aircraft has a canopy closure whose latches permit to open or close it any time from either side! May be you can have a look at these.
